The Advisor’s Desk
One useful question. A clearer next step.
“I didn’t achieve all my financial goals this year. Should I wait until January to start again?”
Start with what changed. A goal that slipped may reflect higher expenses, a change in income or a priority that no longer fits your life. Understanding the reason is more useful than simply carrying the same resolution into another year.
Choose one achievable action. You might organise your financial documents, work out what the next few months will cost or identify a question you have been avoiding. Progress does not have to begin with a large amount of money.
Use the conversation to plan ahead. Your adviser can help you review your priorities and consider what is realistic for your circumstances. You do not need to arrive with everything figured out.
A useful question for your next meeting with your Advisor: “What is the most important financial action for me to take before the end of this year?”
